SNMP channel

The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) channel allows the logging server to send traps that contain events to an SNMP management system. Venafi Trust Protection Platform™ supports SNMP v1, SNMP v2c, and SNMP v3. SNMP v1 supports only IPv4 connections. SNMP v2c and SNMP v3 support IPv4, IPv6, or IPv4/IPv6 dual stack configurations.

Under SNMP v2c and v3, Trust Protection Platform has its own Management Information Base (MIB) file to map events to specific Object ids (OID)s. The OIDs include the Trust Protection Platform event fields and readable log text. The readable logs make it easier to search for specific traps in the SNMP monitoring system.

Whenever Administrators add events, delete events, or modify the readable log text. the MIB file requires regeneration. For more information, see Customizing the Management Information Base. Administrators can also customize the MIB file by modifying Trust Protection Platform event schema.
