Editing credentials

After creating credentials, you'll likely need to edit, move, or even delete them. You can perform these functions from the Credential inventory (Inventory > Credentials).

When editing a user name or password credential, if you don't want to change the password, leave the field blank, and edit the other fields. The password will not be changed.

DID YOU KNOW?  When editing a user name or password credential, the password fields show dots to indicate that there is a password set in the secret store. This password is not actually retrieved from the secret store when you are editing the credential settings, and the existing password is not compared to the value of the password field. If TLS Protect detects a change to the password field, TLS Protect will update the password in the secret store with the new value. If the password fields are not modified, nothing happens to the password in the secret store.

To edit a credential

  1. From the TLS Protect menu bar, click Inventory > Credentials to open the Credential inventory list.

  2. Locate the credential you want to edit.

    You can use filters, if necessary.

  3. Click the Edit quick action button at the right end of the row that contains the credential you want to edit.

    If you're already in the details view of a credential, click the Edit link to the right of the credential's title.

  4. In Edit Credential Settings, make your changes, and then click Save.
