Manually Uploading the Private Key

When you create a new Certificate object, you have the option of uploading the private key so it is archived in the Trust Protection Platform database. The Upload Private Key option in the Certificate object allows you to paste the private key data or upload a private key file to the Trust Protection Platform database.

To manually upload a private key

  1. From the SSH Protect menu, click Configuration > Policy Tree.

You must have the Private Key Write, View, and Write permissions to the Certificate object to upload a private key.

  2. In the Policy tree, select the Certificate object whose certificate file you want to import.
  3. Click the Certificate > Settings tab.
  4. Click Upload Private Key.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • Paste the Base64-encoded key into the Paste window.
    • Click Browse to navigate the Directory structure, then upload a Base64 Binary-encoded private key into the Policy Tree.
  6. Enter the password required to access the private key.
  7. Click Upload.
  8. When finished, click Apply/Save.

When you upload the private key, Trust Protection Platform encrypts the data, then archives the key in the Trust Protection Platform database so it can be distributed or downloaded on demand.
