Viewing Log application objects and schemas

Log Application objects store the information the Log server requires to identify Log Applications. Log Application objects also store the associated applications' log schema.

NOTE  The log schema catalogs the events that can be logged by a given logging application. The log schema also defines static event data such as the event ID, description, and readable log text. You can customize logging application event summaries in the corresponding Log Application object. For more information, see About the Log schema.

To view a Log Application object and its associated log schema

  1. Open Venafi Configuration Console (VCC) or the Venafi Tools MMC Snap-in.

NOTE  You must have Read permission to the Log Application objects in the Logging tree and, if using the MMC Snap-in, granted access to the Venafi Tools OAuth Integration.

  2. Open the Tools Logging > Event Definitions node.
  3. In the Event Definitions list, find the category for the event(s) you want to review.
  4. Select the event, then click the Properties action.

TIP  You can use the Filter dialog to assist in finding the category or event you want to customize. You can also use grouping by right-clicking on a column header.

  5. If desired, edit the definition. You can modify both the event Description as well as the Translation.

NOTE  The blue arrows will clear the customizations and return the field to its factory default settings.

  6. Click OK to apply changes.
