Updating the default SQL channel object
During installation, Trust Protection Platform automatically creates a database table and configures the default SQL Channel object to store log events in the table. The default SQL Channel object controls the location where the Log server stores event logs.
The default SQL Channel only requires configuration if you are using a separate database to store log events. A separate database for event logging requires you to create a custom SQL channel, and then change the default SQL channel object.
To update the default SQL channel object
-
From the Platform menu bar, click Policy Tree.
You must have View and Write permissions to the Log Server object in the Logging Tree. - Select the Logging tree.
- If you have not already done so, create a MSSQL Channel object. For more information, see Creating Channel objects and Creating a custom SQL log channel.
-
In the Logging tree, click Channels > Default SQL Channel.
-
On the Settings tab, select the Database Connection for the new MSSQL channel:
- Use Custom Connection: The default log channel uses a separate database. Requires additional installation.
- Use System Connection: The default log channel uses the Trust Protection Platform database.
-
Configure the other settings as described in Default SQL channel configuration.
- Click Save.
- Restart the Log service.
