Understanding system logging and notifications

In addition to monitoring and managing your organization’s encryption resources, Venafi Trust Protection Platform™ provides the ability to log and audit those functions. The Log server collects event data from Trust Protection Platform components across your encryption environment, then stores the data to a centralized log store so you can review and evaluate your encryption system activity. The logged information is helpful for auditing, troubleshooting, and operational reviews.

Trust Protection Platform is also capable of capturing specific events. Based on criteria you define in Notification objects, events go to SMTP, SNMP, File, MS SQL, or Syslog channels for notification and logging.

Conversely, Trust Protection Platform can also exclude events based on event types or severities selected in Filter Channel objects so you can control what types of events are logged or simply reduce the number of events logged to a database.
