SMTP channel factory template upgrade considerations

Venafi Platform offers a range of pre-configured SMTP channels for a wide variety of events. Feel free to use these channels as they are, tweak them to better fit your needs, or duplicate them to create customized channels.

Starting with Venafi Platform version 25.1, any changes you make to these default channels will stick around, even after system upgrades. Plus, you can always revert to the factory settings of any built-in channel whenever you like.

EXAMPLE Consider the following scenario:

Let's say you installed Venafi Platform version 25.1 and customized a default email channel to align with your company's requirements. When you later upgrade to version 24.1, your customizations will be preserved.

So, what if Venafi updates that channel in a future release, like 25.1? No worries—your changes will still be there after the upgrade. If you ever want to go back to the factory settings, simply choose "Reset customization" from the VCC Actions menu. This will revert the channel to the most recent factory version—in this example, version 25.1.
