Importing an existing certificate

You may want to bring a certificate that wasn't issued by Trust Protection Platform on board. You create a certificate placeholder and set the Management Type to Monitoring. After the certificate is created in inventory, use the Upload option to upload the certificate file into the placeholder you created in Inventory.

  1. From the TLS Protect menu bar, click Inventory> Certificates.

  2. On the Certificates page, click Create a New Certificate.
  3. Select the appropriate Certificate Folder.
  4. Click Submit.

  5. Fill in the details as needed.

    IMPORTANT  Be sure to select Monitoring as the Management Type.

  6. When you're done, click Submit.

NOTE  You must have View and Write permissions to the certificate. If the certificate is in a format that includes the private key, you must also have the Private Key Write permission to the certificate.

Supported keystore upload types are: PEM, DER, PKCS#7, and PKCS#12.

  1. From the TLS Protect menu bar, click Inventory> Certificates.

  2. Locate the certificate you created as a placeholder, and then click its name.

  3. Click Actions.

  4. Click Import.

  5. In the Import Certificate window, do one of the following:

    • Drop the new certificate file into the box.
    • Click inside the box to upload the certificate.
    • Paste the certificate text into the box.
    • Click the Find the certificate in a network location link to enter a URL and port from which to retrieve an existing certificate.
  6. (Conditional) If required, enter the private key password.

  7. Click Submit.

    In the Import Certificate window you can preview the new values, as populated by the certificate you just imported.

  8. Click Import.

  9. In the certificate's details page, click Show All Properties to see the updated values of the certificate.

    NOTE  When you upload a certificate, the renewal values will automatically update to match the certificate that was just uploaded.
