Revert historical certificates
If you decide that you want to make a historical version the current version, you can revert to that version of the certificate. To do so, locate the certificate in the Previous Versions list, and click Revert in the action button. You can only revert valid certificates, so you cannot revert certificates that are expired or revoked.
Reverting a certificate means that what is now the current version will be moved to the previous versions list, and the version of the certificate that you select will become the new current version. You will be able to use this new current version for installation and monitoring purposes.
You can only see the Revert option in the action button if the following is true:
- You have the Write permission to the certificate.
- The certificate is not "In Error," "Expired," or "Revoked."
- The certificate is not in one of the following states:
- installing
- renewing
- revoking of current
- revoking of historical
WARNING! This action may cause the next renewal to be processed by the Certificate Authority as a new certificate, rather than as a renewal. For more information see How certificate renewal works.
IMPORTANT A private key that is associated with the certificate will only be restored if the certificate object is the owner of the private key vault.
